SACR 75th Anniversary Celebrations in 2007

The Scottish Association of Change Ringers was formed in Edinburgh on 23rd April 1932: so 2007 saw the 75th anniversary of the association. This was marked by the following special events and ringing.

75th Anniversary Dinner Day

Saturday 21st April marked the official start of the celebrations with a peal at St Mary's Edinburgh and open ringing at other towers in Edinburgh. The day was completed with a dinner at the Apex International Hotel on the Grassmarket, with more than 80 current and past members in attendance.

75th Anniversary Ringing

A number of special ringing activities took place to mark the anniversary:

• The successful peal at St Mary's Edinburgh on 21st April, the first of many celebration peals.
• A specially arranged 75th Anniversary peal in every tower in the Association.
• A "long" peal of 7500 changes at St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh on September.
• Ring Out Scotland, ringing in all the Scottish Association towers, on Sunday 10 June, between 2-5pm.
• The SACR 75th Aniversary Quarter Peal Challenge - ring 75 quarter peals between April and October! (Compositions)
• An Open Scotland ringing weekend on 25-27 August, for visiting ringers to sample our fabulous bells and scenery.
• A Peal by Cambridge University Guild at Inveraray was rung with complements to SACR.
