Kerr was a ringer from Glasgow. He had not been learning for long and was just starting to ring plain hunt. In spite of his illness he attended the striking competition in 2016 in Stirling to support the Glasgow team and was elected a member of SACR at the AGM that day. Sadly he died just a few weeks later.
