Sadly we lost our most experienced ringer, Anthony Howell, back in March after a short illness. Anthony is a great loss to the tower. Not only was he a much admired and respected ringer with a wealth of knowledge and experience, but in his own quiet unassuming way, he did much to help, not only in the training of our newer ringers, but he was also a mine of information to our more experienced ringers, and he was able to keep us all right when ringing. He is greatly missed, and we are planning to ring a quarter peal in his memory in March close to the first anniversary of his death. Sue, Anthony’s widow has donated Anthony’s set of handbells to the tower, for which we are very grateful. We have started a regular handbell session to help some of our less experienced ringers learn new methods which they cannot yet ring on tower bells.
